Faculty Frederico Fiúza appointed Visiting Professor at Stanford
May 14 2024Frederico Fiúza was appointed Visiting Professor at Stanford University (USA) with the goal of collaborating in research activities in the areas of cosmic ray physics, plasma physics and plasma-based accelerators in the Photon Science Department and in experiments at the FACET-II accelerator facility at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
This appointment, for a 3-year term, will strengthen the collaborations of IPFN and the Department of Physics of IST with Stanford University and with the Photon Science Department at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

Ricardo Ferreira receives PhD in Engineering Physics
April 29 2024On 24 April 2024, Dr. Ricardo Ferreira received his PhD in Engineering Physics with a thesis entitled 'Development and Qualification of the European Shock Tube for High Enthalpy Research'. His work was supervised by Prof. Mário Lino da Silva (IST).
The thesis committee consisted of Dr. Christopher James (U Queensland, Australia), Dr Lionel Marraffa (ESA), Dr. Brett Cruden (NASA Ames, USA), Prof. Bernardo Carvalho (IST), Prof. Mário Lino da Silva (IST) and Prof. Luís L. Alves (IST, President).
